Entrevista con María de los Ángeles Aguilar Representante de Panamá en la Segunda Edición de Miss Wheelchair World

 

1- ¿Quién es María de los Ángeles Aguilar?

 María es una chica soñadora desde el día uno nació me atrevo a decir también con muchos propósitos en esta vida más ella no los tenía muy bien claros, también maría es una persona carismática le gusta ayudar a los demás, le gusta bailar hacer videos chistosos eso se le da muy bien es una chica extrovertida de cierto modo algo hasta un poco tímida no lo parece pero así es cree e un Dios que todo lo puede y también cree que en algún momento habrá paz en el mundo solo falta un poco de amor en cada corazón. 

2- ¿Qué significado tiene para ti el día internacional de la Mujer? 

Pues la verdad desde mi punto de vista no es un día para recibir flores ni bombones, más bien para mi es un día de reflexión de exigencia de igualdad, respeto y reconocimiento de derechos para todas las mujeres porque la lucha de la mujer no a sido fácil por eso es bueno recordar rendir reconocimiento por lo logrado hasta ahora incluyendo tanto a mujeres profesionales, como a heroínas anónimas, madres y más que aportan en todas las áreas de la sociedad. 

3- ¿Cuáles son las instituciones que cuenta Panamá para combatir la discriminación?

 Bueno hay varias una de esas sería el Instituto Nacional de la Mujer (INAMU) y la Defensoría del Pueblo y la Comisión Nacional Contra la Discriminación. 

4- ¿Como calificarías las condiciones de accesibilidad e inclusión laboral en tu país?

 La verdad está haciendo lo mejor posible en cuanto accesibilidad, pero lamentablemente nos falta mucho aun desde mi punto de vista podía ser mejor si le echaran ganas como debería ser, y en lo laboral no está del todo como me gustaría hay mucho potencial sin trabajo amigos y conocidos en silla bien preparados que no se le da la oportunidad como se debería de verdad que nos falta mucho aun en todo esto sin quitar el mérito que están poco a poco haciendo lo mejor por ello… 

5- En tu opinión ¿Cuáles son los problemas más significativos que enfrenta la mujer con discapacidad en tu país? 

Para mí el numero uno y el que siempre voy a decir las barreras arquitectónicas es algo fatal, el tema de como hacen las rampas por hacer los baños disque accesibles cosas como está nos enfrentamos más de lo normal en mi país las veredas donde podemos transitar si no hay un poste en medio como obstáculos ahí otras cosas y si sigo no termino la verdad… 

6- ¿Qué significa para ti el empoderamiento femenino? 

Que buena pregunta y yo empezaría por aquella Mujer Empoderada, que no critica al resto de las personas aquella persona que además puede ayudar a las otras personas, aquella que no está enfurecida con la vida y por lo mismo no es conflictiva y aquella mujer que puede ir tocando vidas en positivo y porque pienso de esta manera, porque una mujer empoderada entiende que no tiene competencia y por lo mismo no tiene que hablar mal de nadie ( otra mujer) para que esa persona crezca y también e entendido que una mujer empoderada no debe de ir por la vida pegando gritos… porque las personas más poderosas son las más suaves porque ya entendió que una sonrisa una mirada y pedir las cosas de una manera amable y prudente tiene más poder eso. Para mí eso es una mujer empoderada y le podría agregar algo más una mujer que ayuda a otras mujeres y a cualquiera otra persona más es una mujer empoderada. 

7- ¿Consideras que el mundo en general ha dado suficiente protección a las personas con discapacidad durante la pandemia? 

Desde mi punto de vista pienso que hemos tenido más protección durante la pandemia que otros años sin pandemia, se lee extraño verdad, pero la verdad lo he sentido de esta manera ahora con pandemia que otros años. 

8- ¿Que te motivo formar parte de este evento? 

mmm… bueno la verdad, cuando le conté a mi familia del evento sentí emoción en ellos desde el día uno mi padre la verdad lo sentí super emocionado y eso me hizo sentir super motivada en continuar con todo y formar parte de la miss wheelchair world. En conclusión, mi familia me hizo sentir motivada.

9- ¿Qué mensaje le brindas a las demás chicas que estarán compartiendo contigo esta experiencia?

 Le diría disfrutemos este bello momento, que jamás lo vamos a olvidar que es tan bueno conocerlas a todas, que para mi es un sueño lo que estoy viviendo y ver que las voy a conocer a todas para mi es maravilloso, porque en su momento las vi por las redes sociales (Instagram) y nunca pensé que las vería en personas a cada una de ellas. 

10- ¿Qué esperas de México como país sede? 

Comer los mejores tacos del mundo, y la calidad de personas que he leído que son se que será maravilloso conocer de México su cultura, su gastronomía y todo lo de su país me parece maravilloso viva México. 

11- ¿Sueñas con la corona? ¿Qué significaría para ti obtenerla y que responsabilidad traería consigo? 

Si sueño con la corona bueno creo que desde niña todas nos creíamos reinas y jugábamos a serlo así que puedo decir que claro que si sueño con la corona, para mi obtenerla, sería un gran logro, evidenciar que mis miedos y mis ganas de en su momento dejarlo todo valió la pena que nunca pero nunca dudes de ti, traería la responsabilidad de evidenciar a cada mujer con discapacidad, que no existen límites que somos bellas y debemos amarnos tal cual somos y como estemos y esto sería mi tarea transmitir eso a cada una de ellas siempre. Que todas somos una Reinas. 

12- ¿En tu opinión ¿Todas las chicas participantes son ganadoras? 

Por supuesto que si todas son ganadoras con el solo hecho de estar ya participando y de representar cada una a su País son unas verdaderas ganadoras. 

13- ¿Qué mensaje le brindas a tu familia y seres queridos de cara a tu participación en Miss Wheelchair World?

 Primero que nada, le diría que muchas gracias porque desde el día que les comenté que quería participar me dijeron si, siempre estuvieron a mi lado y puedo decir que el concurso nos unió más como familia también quiero agradecer a mi novio por la paciencia y el apoyo incondicional que son los mejores que los amo y soy afortunada de tenerlos conmigo. 

14- ¿Qué consejo le darías a un niño que recientemente acaba de adquirir la condición de discapacidad?

 Ok le diría está permitido llorar y estar triste claro que si… pero también está permitido levantarse y seguir adelante le contaría todo lo que puede logar hacer y que no importa la discapacidad que le puedo asegurar yo que él va volver a sonreír y ser feliz de otra manera y que va valorar más la vida ahora más que nunca y que nunca piense que esta solo tiene a Dios que lo ama y a su familia. 

15- ¿Algún mensaje que le ofrezcas al pueblo mexicano que te recibirá en octubre en Rosarito Baja California? 

Que estoy muy emocionada de conocer el Pueblo de Rosarito no me canso de ver videos y fotos del lugar y saber que pronto estaré ahí me hace brincar de emoción en do ruedas gracias Rosarito por acogerme esos días Dios primero nos vemos pronto

1- Who is Maria de los Angeles Aguilar?

 María is a dreamy girl since the first day she was born, I dare to say, also with many purposes in this life, but she was not very clear about them, María is also a charismatic person, she likes to help others, she likes to dance, to make funny videos, that she is very good at it she is an extroverted girl in a certain way something even a little shy she does not seem so but that is how she believes in a God who can do everything and also believes that at some point there will be peace in the world just a little love is missing in every heart 

2- What meaning does International Women's Day have for you? 

Well, the truth from my point of view is not a day to receive flowers or chocolates, rather for me it is a day of reflection demanding equality, respect and recognition of rights for all women because the struggle of women has not been easy, that's why it's good to remember to acknowledge what has been achieved so far, including both professional women, anonymous heroines, mothers and more who contribute in all areas of society. 

3- What are the institutions that Panama has to combat discrimination?

 Well, there are several, one of which would be the National Institute for Women (INAMU) and the Ombudsman's Office and the National Commission Against Discrimination. 

4- How would you rate the conditions of accessibility and labor inclusion in your country?

 The truth is that he is doing his best in terms of accessibility, but unfortunately we still have a long way to go, even from my point of view, it could be better if they wanted to, as it should be, and in terms of work it is not quite as I would like, there is a lot of potential without work, friends and acquaintances in a well-prepared chair who are not given the opportunity as they should really be that we still have a long way to go in all this without taking away the merit that they are little by little doing their best for it... 

5- In your opinion, what are the most significant problems faced by women with disabilities in your country? 

For me the number one and the one I am always going to say the architectural barriers is something fatal, the issue of how they do the ramps to make the bathrooms accessible, things like this we face more than normal in my country the sidewalks where we can travel yes There is no post in the middle as there are obstacles, other things and if I continue I don't finish the truth... 

6- What does female empowerment mean to you? 

What a good question and I would start with that Empowered Woman, who does not criticize the rest of the people, that person who can also help other people, the one who is not angry with life and therefore is not conflictive, and that woman who can touch positive lives and because I think this way, because an empowered woman understands that she has no competition and therefore does not have to speak ill of anyone (another woman) for that person to grow and I have also understood that an empowered woman does not You must go through life screaming... because the most powerful people are the softest because you already understood that a smile, a look and asking for things in a kind and prudent way has more power.For me, that is an empowered woman and I could add something more to it, a woman who helps other women and anyone else is an empowered woman. 

7- Do you think that the world in general has given enough protection to people with disabilities during the pandemic? 

From my point of view, I think that we have had more protection during the pandemic than other years without a pandemic, it reads strangely true, but the truth is that I have felt it this way now with a pandemic than other years. 

8- What motivated you to be part of this event? 

mmm… well the truth is, when I told my family about the event I felt emotion in them from day one, my father really felt super excited and that made me feel super motivated to continue with everything and be part of the miss wheelchair world. In conclusion, my family made me feel motivated.

9- What message do you give to the other girls who will be sharing this experience with you?

 I would tell her let's enjoy this beautiful moment, that we will never forget that it is so good to meet you all, that for me what I am living is a dream and to see that I am going to meet all of you is wonderful for me, because at the time the I saw on social networks (Instagram) and I never thought I would see each of them in person. 

10- What do you expect from Mexico as the host country? 

Eating the best tacos in the world, and the quality of people that I have read that they are, I know that it will be wonderful to learn about Mexico, its culture, its gastronomy and everything about its country, it seems wonderful to me, long live Mexico. 

11- Do you dream of the crown? What would it mean to you to obtain it and what responsibility would it bring? 

If I dream of the crown, well, I think that since we were children we all thought we were queens and played to be so I can say that of course if I dream of the crown, for me to obtain it, it would be a great achievement, to show that my fears and my desire to moment to leave everything was worth it that you never, ever doubt yourself, it would bring the responsibility of showing to each woman with a disability, that there are no limits that we are beautiful and we must love each other as we are and as we are and this would be my task to transmit that to each one of them always. That we are all queens. 

12- In your opinion, are all the participating girls winners? 

Of course, if they are all winners just because they are already participating and each represents their country, they are true winners. 

13- What message do you give to your family and loved ones regarding your participation in Miss Wheelchair World?

 First of all, I would say thank you very much because from the day I told you that I wanted to participate, you told me yes, you were always by my side and I can say that the contest brought us closer together as a family. I also want to thank my boyfriend for his patience and unconditional support they are the best I love them and I am lucky to have them with me. 

14- What advice would you give to a child who has recently acquired a disability condition?

 Ok I would tell him that it is allowed to cry and be sad of course... but it is also allowed to get up and move on I would tell him everything he can do and that no matter the disability I can assure him that he will smile again and be happy another way and that he will value life more now more than ever and that he will never think that he only has God who loves him and his family. 

15- Any message that you offer to the Mexican people that will receive you in October in Rosarito Baja California? 

That I am very excited to get to know the town of Rosarito I never get tired of seeing videos and photos of the place and knowing that I will soon be there makes me jump with excitement on two wheels thank you Rosarito for welcoming me those days God first see you soon
